    Hello,

I would appreciate if you could help me find the best connection setup for the following devices:

TV Sony Plasma SE P42 M1
    Amplifier Sony STR DG 910
    Liteon HD DVD recorder
    Nokia Mediamaster Satellite receiver

I'm not sure how to connect them best together, any advice is much appreciated.

Attached is the picture of the back connections for all of the devices.

    Thanks

    Hi Hasan,

    Welcome to the forum.

I personally don't connect any video sources to my amp, preferring to connect them directly to the Plasma and switching between inputs using TV remote.

Not understanding your requirements fully this may be a stab in the dark but here is how I'd connect it all up. This is by no means the only way. I'm guessing that your HD-DVD Recorder does not have a built in digital tuner. Otherwise why would you want 2 tuners?

    1) The aerial to the "TV Aerial" input of the Nokia.
    2) TV/VCR to the Tuner RF In on your HD-DVD Recorder.
    3) RF Out from HD-DVD Recorder to your Plasma's Aerial socket. This is only if you want to be able to bypass the Nokia (mine used to hang a lot) and use inbuilt tuner of the TV. You can always use scart connection from Nokia to the TV instead.
    4) Connect Scart out (TV) from HD DVD Recorder to the first Scart input of the Plasma.
    5) Connect TV Scart from Nokia to the second Scart input of the Plasma.
    6) Connect Digital out from HD DVD Recorder to one of the digital inputs of the amp. Optical or copper, depending on which cables you have.
    7) Connect Digital Audio from Nokia to one of the copper digital inputs of the amp.

    8) Speakers...

Like I said, my suggestions may be different if I knew more about your system. For example if you have HDMI on your Plasma, why do you want multiple tuners etc.

    Thank you Dev
Well , let me add some more info to clarify things more.
First I don't need the Tuner because I don't watch ground channels, so don't worry about the RF cables,
My real problem is the Sony Amp.
    My current setup is:
From Nokia Sat Scart out to the DVD scart in – then from DVD scart out to the AV3 in Sony TV
This allows me to see the Sat channels and record them , and watch any DVD movies
All this on AV3 without shifting from one AV# to another + I can monitor (setup) all
Now I need to do the same thing while connecting the sony Amp as well.
So what I need is the final output (monitor ) to be on one screen for all of them without shifting between the AV's on the TV
If the picture of my current configuration could help I can upload it for you
    Many thanks in advance

OK, if I understand correctly you are happy with your video sources and just want to output sound through your amp. If this is correct just connect the coax digital output from your HD DVD Recorder to your amp's DVD in. The amp should then decode DSP signals from DVD fine.

You'll also need to connect the Nokia to the amp and switch from one to the other. I'm afraid there is no other way around this. The DVD player will not convert the sound it receives via scart into a digital signal to the amp.

yes this is exactly what I need, but the problem is that the /i can't see the monitor (menu setup for the Amplifier) on the same AV. on which I see the receiver and the DVD
I can solve the sound's problem with your suggestion, but then I'm left with the problem of the video menu of the amplifier

Sorry, I don't see how you are going to do that without switching between AVs on your TV.

Is this the sort of thing you are going to do very often? I mean once the amp is all set up, do you really need to see the menu settings? Sure, it may show you stuff like what it's playing, what source it's selected, type of DSP it's decoding but in your case the source to the amp is always the same and DSP may be indicated by display on the amp.

In other words I can't think of a solution for your predicament. Perhaps someone else can.

Don't think it'll work. For example if you switch your amp's input to DVD in you won't get sound from Nokia and if you switch to Nokia you won't get DVD sound.

I can't see a way of avoiding source switching on TV.

Have you posted this query on AVForums? They are much more familiar with AV side of things.
