Not true AFAIK - the error correction is sufficiently robust that the data is always recovered bit-perfect. The question of error correction is largely irrelevant to the transport argument which concerns jitter, ie. timing errors. If there is an error in reading the data, there's a loud click or pop of some sort or the CD skips or repeats, but this actually constitutes an improvement in the sound quality as it makes it more vinyl-like :D
