You missed posting a poll on the best light bulbs and did you mention those who claim that light bulbs make no difference at all?

Light bulbs DO make a difference, however blind testing using real blind people did not find any difference.

I'm afraid you misspelt/mispelled "what brand of light bulbs work best for this technique". Shouldn't it be "what brand of light bulbs works best for this technique"?

I think you'll find it's "which brand of light bulb works best for this technique?"

You also failed to indicate how many Mana supports you need to reach the light bulb

Just went into Morrisons with 'er indoors and helped myself to 6 x 60watt(equivelent) energy saving lightbulbs @ 99p Each buy one get one free. They have a 6 year guarantee so hopefully they will last a bit longer.

I cannot belive the amount of light bulbs that i have to change in this house of mine, it is definately worse than any other house I've lived in. I have a light fitting with 4 of the R50 spot lights in , changing at least one of them seems to be a weekly occurance now.

It doesn't matter which brand or standard i buy either, whether it be cheapo Tesco 'stripey' ones or top quality Mazda's Osrams or Phillips, etc, I've tried them all and they all just blow in a short period of time.

Maybe I should get a fancy Hi-Fi PSU to give my lighting circuits a nice stable, ripple and spike free supply (and mount it on a Mana sound stage 'just to make sure'...)

So it's not just me then! They're a pain in the ar5e. I paid a fortune for the halogen equivalent's expecting them to last ages. Yep they lasted twice as long - two months instead of one.

Recently bought some long life (non-halogen) jobbies from B&Q and they have (so far) lasted a lot longer.

I think I saw one at Bristol last year; seemed a bit bright, don't remember which room, probably hadn't been on long enough...

Come on guys. The lights from all light bulbs are the same. Whether you get those cheap Woolworth version or mega expensive branded version. Anyone who say otherwise, I'll challenge anyone who could tell them apart with a simply ABX test.
