Nice looking car. Had the VVTi 190 for a 48hr test-drive about 3 years ago. Loads of fun but needs a heavy-foot to get the best out of it.

Yeah, if you want the real power you really have to push it past 6000 revs to get 'lift'. That's when it get's fun! Alas I have the auto not the manual (manuals just aren't practical here - plus I've got lazy), so you can't do the fun stuff like keeping it in lift through all gears.

    Still, looks puurrrrty.

did you try any of the yank tank alternatives? i believe there is a new mustang just out which looks quite tasty and the american obsession with 'power trucks' like the f150 lightning is a phenomenon which should be explored too - certainly as they are giving petrol away free with cereal over there iirc.
    cheers

i've a cts - the 6000 lift is a blessing really. it means the car drives like normal most of time and only flies when you really boot it.

I was warned off of American cars in no uncertain terms by pretty much everyone I've met over here and trucks and SUVs just ain't my thang. Fuel prices are on the up over here, especially in Ca. where we pay anything up to 50% more than other parts of the country. Still cheap enough for me to :duck: before compaining about it on a UK forum, though...

The Celi get's real upset with anything less than premium (the cretinous dealer filled her with regular before I took her off their hands :newbie: ). Got the first full tank of premium in today and she's much happier. at $2.67 a gallon (as long as I fuel on the peninsula and not in SF) it ain't to bad.

Oh god, I've turned into one of those people who call their car she. I'll be naming it next. Shoot me, it's a mercy killing.

:chainsaw: :gatling: :chop: :micro: :laser: :chair:

you're also missing certain letters off of words...
    'The Celi gets real upset'
    as opposed to
    'The Celi gets really upset'
be careful or you'll be chewing gum and saying things like 'I rilly rilly like this ya know' with a flick of your hair.
still it sounds like you're having a rilly good time ;)
    cheers

My wifey has a celica, I drove it four miles the other day and the clutch went, like everything with the celica its not gonna be cheap.

My advice is avoid the toyota dealers, I was most amused to see toyota brand screen wash at 17 quid for a litre. Ha har de har haaaaAAaaaAAaa.

Seriously Sheila coughed up 600 quid for a service from toyota and nothing special needed doing.

I've bought a new car too:

4wd estate which will easily chip to 210bhp/290lbft, and it fits 20 sheets of 1/2" plasterboard in the boot.. Which is nice (and cheap, and in the Top Gear Survey top 10!)
