    Hi,

C'est Chic is a very good album. It features one of the best in the business rhythm sections in the business. Quality feel good dance tunes, tight basslines, scratchy funky guitar licks, solid tight drumming, good singing, the album hit good.

It is good party stuff but is a well but together album. It is one of my faves. It is big & it is clever. :D.

I'm going to have to side with robs and scidb on this one.

Chic were fantastic. Rogers/Edwards/Thompson - what a unit.

See also "Spacer" by Sheila B. Devotion. They've never been tighter or solider.*

    *possibly a made up word.

Damn right - I have the 8track cartridge, and 2 versions of the vinyl - 1 with 8 tracks (he eh!) and the other with 2 bonus tracks - but the pressing on the 10 track version is crap.

Do ALL versions of this (including the 8track) have horribly jangly distorted guitar on the guitar break in "Happy Man"??? Sounds like that on all systems I've tried it on.

Bloody good fun album though - "Chic Cheer" is cheese in the extreme, and of course it has the best ever disco track - "Le Freak"! "Savouire Fair"(sp?? forgotten!) is the one I'm not so sure on - it's OK, but the other tracks are better - though the guitar work is ace!

...but it's a great acid/cheese/dance crossover album - from the best year for cream cheese acid/dance crossover tracks!

Did Krush ever release an album??? Jack'n'chill?

Gets my vote as the second best ever funk guitar part.

My favorite funk riff to play is by the Doobie Brothers. Anyone guess which track? :D

    Easy peasy question for y'all.

    Hi Chris,

    "Long Train Running". Good tune.

For Funk guitar check out the work of the late Jimmy Nolen. He is the master. He played in James Browns's band from the 60's the 70's. He more or less invented the funk guitar.

He played on records like "Papas got a brand new bag" , "Cold Sweat", "Get on a good foot" & many of the James Brown Classics up to the early 80's. His style was a big influence on the like of Nile Rogers of Chic, Leo Nocentelli of the meters, Jimi Hendrix, George Clinton, Fela kuti, Sly & the family stone, Talking heads & many more. Anyone who has dabbled in funk and thing funky.

By the way, Disco Inferno by the Trammps is the best disco record ever.

    Hi Joolsburger,

Early Commodores is corking stuff. Brick House & Human Zoo gets me dancing.

I remember Voyage. Great disco stuff. East to west, Scotch Machine & Lets fly away were all good disco stuff. The French were good at Disco. Patrick Hernandez anyone? Check out Cerrone who was a master of the art. He had electronic disco style, like Giorgio Moroder, & help lay down a blue print for house music.

Ah yeah - the best track on the Boogie Nights soundtrack - next to the raw-as-botulism(sp?) cheese of Night Ranger's "Sister Christian" that is...

The only Doobie Brothers I know is the code word for spliff...

MO... I was serious!! It's great! I bought the 12" of Le Freak when it came out many years ago - that's why I picked up the LP when I saw it. Glad to see there are a few others who are not to embarrassed to admit it!

    Groovin'!!:D
