I got the Shure today, open the packaging, take it out and the sodding cantilvers bent. I've not had time to ring Hifibitz, but what chance of getting a replacement. Oh I'm so pissed off

This really isn't your lucky month is it! Don't fly anywhere will you.

Presumably the chances of getting a replacement are 100% as it's arrived damaged?

If you've lost them 3 times you musn't have. Sorry about the amp mate, at least you should be able to fix it. Hifibitz will replace the cart I think, or at least the stylus, but I so wanted to have a play tonight!

You're bloody telling me. I got the cart out of the box, had a look at it and could have wept. It'll be another bloody week now at least. Spoke to Hifibitz and they were fairly helpful, but until it's sorted there's always the worry they'll try and wriggle out isn't there. I just hope it doesn't become one of those prove who was at fault type cases

Ah but the goods have to returned in as new condition. Mind you I haven't even opened the fitting bag, and it was bought on the never never, so they will have something to say I hope if Hifibitz are tardy. They're going to ring me in the morning to I hope either send me a new stylus or replace the whole cart. At least that's what I hope they'll do!

Rang them this morning and they're still looking into it. The longer they look into it the more worried I become.
Does anyone know because I bought it with a credit agreement I have some additional consumer rights don't I?

I would have thought Hifibitz are responsable for ensuring correct packaging and the parcel firm are responsible for ensuring that it gets delivered without getting damaged. I don't suppose it was delivered via some kind of ensured delivery?

If you don't get anyway then people of Zerogain should be warned not to use them in the future if this matter is not resolved.

It may not be Hifibitz's fault. I've heard of a few cartridges arriving, from various suppliers, with bent cantilevers. It's as likely poor QC by the manufacturer.

True but the retailer are still resposnable for returning the item to manufacturer and getting a refund or replacement. As I understand it normaly if its faulty on arival you are entitled to an instant refund or replacement.

Of course. I doubt it'll be a problem.

You'll be absolutely fine - if they're not playing ball you're certainly within your consumer rights to unleash Zerogain on them :D

as long as you inform them in writing before 7 days are up you are within your rights to return any mail order product - even if it's perfect by dint of the distance selling regulations.
    cheers

You can get some distance selling info from the OFT and download the regulations themselves from there if you really want to read them.

    Cheers guys.
Haven't heard back from them today despite what they promised, and the chap I'm dealing has gone out not due back until monday.........
I'm sure there'll be no problems, with a cart it only takes a tiny knock to remove the cantilever, so if the package was dropped it's easy to see how it happened.
Hopefully on monday they'll resolve the issue, although I'm quite tempted to fire off an email to customer services!
