An hour with the valve amps fired up and the place is like a fliping sauna :inferno:

It's enough to make you want to go back to Naim :yikes:

That's why I keep backing away from the idea of getting vales into the system, especially as things get hotter than this back home. Do you have a solid state alternative for the warmer days?

Stop moaning Rob and enjoy the sauna. It's good for you, allegedly:D.

I complain when it's cold and rains, but last week was far too hot and perhaps even worse.

The original appeal of "outdoor" work is flagging.

Did anyone experience VERY VERY loud thunder last night?

There were a couple of loud bangs, but one really loud one that made both myself and girlfriend wake up with a jump. About 4am or so. I looked out the window alf expecting to see an explosion or something.

It woke me up, but Mrs H slept right through it. It must run in families; her father slept right through the hurricane in 1987, despite the fact that a large tree fell into their back garden, missing the house by a few inches!

Quite a few years back when we lived in Germany, there was an earthquake. The neighbours were out in the street shouting "Poltergeist!" and it was the talk of the day for everyone. Kids on the playground saying how they'd felt their beds shaking, parents work mates saying they'd had cups fall off tables and such.

We slept right through it :)

You know that’s probably the only memory I have of being 1year old! I remember being in my room in bed (cot?) and feeling the entire house sway slightly. Quite scary! I was three floors up. It is the reason a lot of the trees in Shorn Country Park (see my photos) are up-rooted!

Heat, this is nothing. Stu will tell you about what we get back in my hometown of Melbourne.

The summer pattern normally goes like this:

    Mon 23°
    Tue 25°
    Wed 28°
    Thu 33°
    Fri 35°
    Sat 38°
    Sun 38°
Then massive thunder storm and go back to the start again...

And most houses aren't air-conditioned in southern parts of Oz !!

I like the heat. Have trained hard for 5 days on the trot and have no acculmilated fatigue. Add in only needing 3-4hours sleep so i couldn't be happier. I suffer from chronic Psoriasis and this has virtually gone. Think i need a home in the med!

Don't forget the nights that only just drop into the high 20s

However our underground rail stations do have air con, as do pretty much all the trains, and the rails don't buckle when it gets a little warm...

I will, however, not find it too amusing when I get home in a couple of weeks - apparently forecast high of 11 today in Melbourne...

None the less, I must get 'round to listening to a good valve/horn setup one of these days. A valve amp would be fine for half the year.

    Regards,

    Stuart.

Golden memories of Ash Wednesday, 1983 when it got to 45° and the whole of Victoria caught fire...
