great film eh

any one remember the name of the bar in Alexandria?

 

superb film. I don't know if the the name of the bar was ever mentioned. They don't make 'em like that any more

A clip from the film was used in a Carlsberg commercial - don't know if the beer they drank really was Carlsberg or if that was PhotoShop'd in afterwards.

I want to visit the bar, but no idea what one it was.

I have some of my grandads memorobilia from the was (he was in Desert Rats) and there is a card for a bar in Egypt, but i cant find it

 

just found that, i best get the book aswell

 

I doubt the bar still exists, if it was even a real bar in the first place.

probably right about the bar not existing (was it in a hotel?) but AFAIK there was a bar in Alexandria that was popular with the comonwealth troups at the time

John Miles actually got pissed while filming the Bar sences at the end of the film he had to drink the pint/glass down in one & kept fluffing the takes then having to reshoot that sence over again

 

Oh dear - sounds like it should be a dodgy place by the waterfront in Southend

On Sylvia Sims, yes, she was absolutely gorgeous

Raffles seems to be a large expensive hotel chain, alas no longer in Alexandria, ill just visit Alemein instead
