If you had only one Eupen where would you put it?

Hi - following my light participation in the power cord threads my interest was piqued and I received today a Eupen CSA 2.5 cord, 1m, with silver-plated IEC contacts. Where do you think I should put it to best effect, to hear if there is an improvement before changing other cords?

    Candidates:
Linn Ikemi CD player - SMPS
Marantz 8400 combi-player - no idea what PS
    Linn 5103 preamp - SMPS
One of 4 Linn power amps - all SMPS (2250s and a 5125)

Based on other comments I would have thought not the power amps. Based on waving an AM radio around the general area I would have thought the Marantz.

I also got a Supra cable recently and this is currently on the Marantz. If you feel up to it, maybe you could suggest the best placement of the pair (Supra and Eupen). I will experiment anyway, but things are complicated by the imminent arrival of 3 2250s, however I will pass on my own feedback.

    TIA,
    SteveC

TBH mate, only you can decide
try them on each and see for yourself where it sounds best
but as you said, no point on the power amps unless you have 4 cables the same

Playing with my Eupen..... I found it worked best on my pre (a Densen B200) rather than my Cd player.

In the end I bought another Eupen so both boxes are now sorted.

If one is an upgrade, think what two will be.....

    hehehe tones -

I was going to say '' on the kettle ''
    or something ruder! hehe

but I chickened it, on fear of being lambasted, 'ung drawn and quartered.

    :)

the answers obviously to try it listen and put it on the component where you feel there was a/some/most benefit - going to be different for everyone I feel.

Oh ha ha Tones!!! Seriously, they are system dependant - they don't always work...

I only have one, and since the NAIT3 has a captive power lead, I was using it on the DAB tuner. Anyway, I tried swapping it onto the Rega CDP (and put the YellO on the tuner) and, well, jury's out, but it has better bass definition now - although the rhythm is a bit different to the YellO - might be a "less grunge = less distortion = less of what I'm used to" situation though....

i'm a Blackcurrent man, but i believe decent power leads should be source first, then amps etc

I bought one last week and put it on my Micromega Stage 6 and it has made a really positive difference.

I always thought that you needed to get your amp sorted out first, but the effect on the source has brought a smile to my face.

I'd stick on the Ikemi. I've had the best results with them on digital gear (CDPs and DACs).

I put one on my Copland 277 CDP and whilst there was an improvement in soundstaging and clarity this was at the expense of increased harshness in the top end.

...until you plug them in, the gerbils don't like that one little bit.

A funny old race are Glaswegians
    Give sometimes undying allegiance
    E.g., well-Mana'd stands
    As to others, they're grand
    Just for purely perverted expedience.

Bugger me, I'm gerbil free; so I tried one on the Densen CDP and it seems to work; also, doesn't seem to screw up PR&T which is extraordinary. And no, I'm not going to graduate to a nest of pythons; my mains road is short, sweet and cheap - maybe Eupens all round and that's it.

    Alex

PS They tried hard to sell me a LAT for the CDP but I'm averse to anything with silver in it even if its fused into the copper. Also, I figured it usually makes sense to keep cabling the same through the system.
