Import duty/tax

    about to import a cd player into the UK from the US. anyone have a good feel for how much duty/tax i will have to pay? thanks.

    Well, interestingly enough I've just received today my new DAC from New York. Posted 13/04 through Fedex arrived today.Didn't get stung for any charges (which surprised me) ! Stated value was $500. Expect I'll get a demand in due course - but here's hoping :)

    You'll probably have to pay about 4% duty and then 17.5% VAT - and they're both charged on the price of the goods and the postage costs.
