I've brought in Shunyata power cords, and this last 2 weeks a Conrad Johson pre amp and a Bel canto evo 200.2 power amp, and it went through customs without a single charge,so I have a big grin on my face, sounds good to boot!

22% is a good guide. That includes VAT at 17.5% and the import duty which varies but is usually around 4%.

If you want to find out the precise import duty payable for importing into the EU you need to consult the TARIC site:

    http://europa.eu.int/comm/taxation_customs/dds/en/tarhome.htm

Be warned...it's a notoriously impenetrable site to navigate but basically you need to search for a TARIC code that most closely describes the thing you're importing and then you get told what it's import duty is.

Duty can range from 0% to much more (even 100% I think) but tends to be about 4%.

    Michael.

Took delivery of a parcel from the States today (shipped USPS) which had a declared ;) value of $100. Total charges to pay to the courier (Parcelforce in this case) who delivered at this end were £23.43: £9.93 VAT (@ 17.5%) which was fair enough, erm and £13.50 "Clearance Fee" a (arbitary? or how do they work that one out  ) handling fee that the robbing delivery service grab for themselves? Anyway, rather pleased with the contents of said parcel anyway. :D

How come you've got one of those in your posession then Tone? :)

    :(

Very pleased indeed mate. :D Differences are pretty much beyond preconceived expectations, especially considering it's only a passive/non-contact design, nice to find a device that finally works with the amp, job done as you predicted. :)
