I mostly watch films at the cinema. I see probably 150 films a year on dvd, tv, cinema and various festivals.

How did I know you would have to reply? (rhetorical question)

But you concede you wouldn't have seen Film 4 recently if you unsubscribed years ago?

Indeed but I saw the listings every week in the radio times.

I replied as it was on my "notify" list.

Are you claming to have seen and know all the films they showed in the year since you unsubscribed? If so, I bow down to your absolutely incredible knowledge of films, though truthfully, I don't believe you. I wouldn't claim to have heard of a third of them till I watched them on film 4, it opened my eyes to lots a great stuff, I wish I'd written the names down of half of them- particularly the foreign films. Shame its gone right down the pan now, aside from The Motorcycle Diaries of course.

Hey its still better than normal TV! Motorcycle Diaries was crap in the first 40min, I turned off. I missed Shawshank Redemption too which is a shame :( They have shown some pretty good movies though. I had not seen ghost Town until they played it a few weeks ago and I think its one of the best I have seen!

No of course I havent seen them all - but I have heard of most of them. Plus I know what I want to see and they stopped showing them when they shut down film4 world and film4 extreme.

    No it wasn't

Corrr Shawshank Redemption, how imaginitive of them to show that:rolleyes: They wheel it out every christmas on some channel or other, its permanently in the sales on DVD, why bother showing it? Which is the point I was making at the start, Fifth Element?! Pleeeease! Who hasn't seen that?! They might be good films but they're just the same films everyone has seen over and over on terestrial. What happened to all the films the other networks were afraid to show because no one has heard of them? Just before it finished they showed Richard Linklater's beautiful Waking Life, I'd hoped they were going to show the other films in the series after it went free but looks like they just had it to use up so stuck it on in the last few days.
Ghost Town is pretty good but that was on proper Film 4 no long ago too, without the f'in adverts too. American Splendour is worth a look if you liked Ghost Town.

I didn't have film4 before it was free so I don't care if they have shown shawshank redemption already :p

They have shown a few good films I had not seen before, which is more than terrestrial TV does most of the time. Thus it is better than normal TV for films :)

I haven't owned a tv, or received a signal in two years. Life's too short to be awash in tv garbage & advertising. Time better spent doing something constructive, like rc planes, cars, mtb's, music, drinking. (I only own a plasma monitor for dvd useage).

I wouldn't mind a thread to keep me in the loop of cool new films though. Or more likely the weird stuff you guys rate on F4....

I hardly watch any TV anymore. Just a few films for the social aspect of going to the flicks and Startgate when it was on. now I am stuck with repeats, which is not so bad as I missed a fair bit.

How about this Eureka though? It seems like a good start so far.
