very quick , but the fact that the other car had the scense to slow down for the corner made it look a lot quicker.
he did do well to walk from it though eh.

There is no mystery. It is all about mecahnical science and Newton's Law of motion. The car is not your normal kind that you could buy from the shop.

The g-force sustained in deceleration must have been huge. It's rare for a human to survive such high g-forces totally unscathed even if there's no external physical injuries resulting from the crash.

Indeed. I bet the medical teams on site were not remotely happy to see him getting out and jumping on his car like that. I know I wouldn't have been if I was there. Well, I'd be pleased he clearly wasn't a mangled wreck, but you know what I mean.

    Indeed.

The secret is really having as much of collapsing zone in front to slow the car down. You could use this link to calculate the force and see how much if goes down increasing by just increasing a tiny amount of stoping distance.

    http://hyperphysics.phy-astr.gsu.edu/hbase/carcr.html#cc1

However, if the car has spin a little bit so that he hit the barrier side on without the front of the car to absorb the stoping force then....... the ending will be tragic.

unless of course the engine is pushed into the drivers compartment. then you're in a whole world of crap.
the stuff he hit was thrown a long way - that would have dissapated a lot of the kinetic energy of the crash as well. it looks like bales of hay or something - usually they'll have strapped together piles of tyres as they (surprisingly) are the most effective things at absorbing racing impacts.
    cheers

If you look attentively, you'll notice there is something very wrong with the deceleration. I think he lost a gear, the car veered to the right, and he was very lucky. Or else he just overdid his turn to pass, the car car got heavy on the front, the rear missaligned and off he went. Anyway, a serious blunder.
