    Hello everyone,

I am looking into upgrading my interconnect between the Marantz CD6000OSE and Cambridge P500/C500.
At the moment I have a Cambridge Pacific but found the following on offer:

    VDH Source - £33
    VDH The Bay C5 - £22
    Black Rhodium Harmony - £24
    VDH D102 Mk3 - £55
    VDH D300 Mk3 - £18

I am thinking about the Black Rhodium because I didn't really want to spend £55

    Which is the best?

the BRs are fab sounding i/cs but the problem with them is that they're not screened, and if you have a lot of hifi kit, they can throw up a fair bit of hum.
save for the BR Rhythm (silver plated, screened copper) at £35 or go for the VDH D102

are the Rhythm better than the harmony? I thought they were lower down the chain, I can get the Rhythm for £18

    Thanks

ah, doesn't matter...lets just say i took advantage in a big way :p

the Rhythm will be fine for CD6000- C500-P500... it should withstand a couple of upgrades

if you're interested, i'm pretty surprised at their Silver plated solid core T90 speaker wire- for £5/m a pretty good cable- runs some entry level Nordost stuff pretty close, without being as forward sounding

Is the harmony shielded, it doesn't mention it anywhere on their website?

Do you think Black Rhodium are better than the VDH then?

Personnaly, I would avoid the VDH's. I have listened to a number of their offerings and have found that they seem to have a house sound - smooth and laid back but lacking detail and pace.

    Hi

I would audtion carefully before spending any hard earned on these cables. The pacific is IMHO actually a very good cable for the price and apart from a slight greyness to its sound is not considerably outclassed by cables worth 2/3 its price. Of course however, having said that the pacific is far from high end but then again its no disgrace either.

If possible home dems would be advisable.

If your any good at DIY, there are a number of excellent designs.

I've a couple of recipes that will cost you about the same as the products you mention but will hopefully outperform them by a wide margin.

If your intrested pm me for further details or look at the diy section under "zerocost" or ask amongst the members.

This is a test post as much as another reply...[still having on going posting problems]

Other cables that might fit the bill could include DNM or the Cyrus both now use the bullet plugs, but may be a touch over your budget.

Get yourself into Mozilla Firebird and you'll never look back :) I switched to it from IE a while back and absolutely love it. First browser in a long time that's not only as good as IE but IMO considerably better.

Now only use IE for the odd site that requires it (eg, BA online checkin, my 2 online banking services and an MSN Groups forum).

no, its unscreened 2 core silver tinned copper

the rhythm is screened, silver plated copper

sound per pound i've always personally liked the Black Rhodium sound- a tad laid back perhaps, but always musical sounding.
