Any recommendations for rooms at the hifi show in sept?

Obviously I will be stopping by the PMC and Walrus rooms - Brinkmann is demming his new deck and phono stage I beleive, and Walrus may also be demming some WNA kit due to my singing their praises over the last year and their subsequent reaction when they heard it in my system. Hopefully I will get a chance to hear the DCS kit at long last. Of particular interest to me is the "funk firm" booth - I speak to Arthur every so often and it would be good to see his latest project take off (and for him to finally fix the dac of mine he has at the moment!). I will also be stopping by the rpm audio room for a critical listen.

Any other kit I should keep an eye out for?

I'd be surprised if RPM was worth a visit. Last year they didn't seem to have a clue about setup and system matching, making extraordinary products sound run of the mill.

The best sounds are likely to be at the Audiofreaks room and Audio Reference - speaking from an accurate/high fidelity point of view.

Definitive Audio will no doubt delight once again.

    hello

nuforce power amps if they are around.
maybe the odd shaped big totem speakers.
the pre amps that 3d sonics designed ( transformer one ).
    sutherland phono stage.
    klyne pre's.
    gt / tron stuff.
try and get to listen to some discreet designs rather than chip based stuff like wna.

Daryl - I am looking at converting the wna kit to discrete to make a comparison, as well as looking at composite opamp approaches. Nothing wrong with good opamps though. The very best can compete with discrete but they are hard to find. Where will the xformer stuff be found?

StereoMic - which products of note are likely to be at DA / AF / AR?

    to be honest

i have not been to a hi fi show since i stopped working in the trade.
when i ran the dems for thiel speakers , counterpoint otl and mcintosh amps and various accuphase digital gear and cables from cheap to obsene.
probably best to check the guide in hfn.

don't know for sure but the Kuzma parallel tracker will probably be in use in some form in the AF room - they normally have one of the Kuzmas in action. You can probably have a chat with the AF guy as well.

Audiofreaks do tend to have one of the best sounds at the show and don't seem to have some of the acustic problems most others have.

Take your own record though as some of the music they play is a bit , erm, audiophile to put it politely.

Last year I heard the Pathos valve kit: very impressive IMO and very good VFM. I was also extremely impressed by a fully digital Meridian system which ISTR came with an astronomic price tag.

Not sure if Seventh Veil are putting on a dem but they have some seriously good speakers - Wadia Meister - any comment?
