So, take a speaker that (hopefully!) has been carefully designed and voiced by someone who knows what they're doing, and shove a damn great horn thing on the front - nice idea.........

And anyway, they don't appear to do one to fit a B139 bass driver...........:D

    well

i thought they may work on my pa speakers as they are supposed to maximise loudness !!!
they look kinda funky to me and are cheaper than air motions or avantgardes.

I don't think a horn that size will do very much for a bass driver and you often need CD correction when using horns (though not of that size!).

A better idea would be some felt dots around the tweeter like Thorsten often suggests.

Well give them a go if you like. I think it will mess the sound up. Horns often introduce ringing and an unbalanced frequency response, which is why they need CD correction. Thats alright for something designed that way but I don't like the idea of adding it to a standard speaker.

It stands for constant directivity. Constant directivity horns need to generally have a boost of around 6dB/octave in the high frequencies because they spread the high frequencies out over a larger range than they otherwise would be if the driver was allowed to 'beam'. Have a google for constant directivity horns.

I'm not sure if those high frequency horn cups there are CD or not. The bass ones certainly are not which is what I meant when I said horns that size would not need it.

These will totally mess the sound up.

You can't just stick random horns onto direct radiator drivers and not completely ruin the frequency response/dispersion etc.

I cannot believe anyone would take this seriously.

I have always wanted some of those ear flaps too, to make me feel like an elephant. Of what fun could be had if we had both!

I prefer a tonally rich elephant painted rainbow colours rather than a drab factual grey.
