Recently found a web site called pandora.com, sure a lot of yous have too.

    What a brilliant concept.

However, I'm running the audio stream through a dell laptop via the built in 'phones out' via crap cable to my pre-amp.

Music not quite as good as I'd like. Is the problem with the output on the Laptop. If so, how can I spunk it up a bit?

    Cheers

    John

How about a USB DAC or external sound card?

The Squeezebox now supports pandora, so that may be a good option for you to look into.

Some laptops (maybe not yours) have an SPDIF hidden cunningly in the headphone out socket. You need to enable the output to use it, plus a special minispdf to spdf cable to connect it. You might be lucky as I was with a Siemens Fujitsu.

    Hi,

I'm currently listening to 'Neu! Radio' from Pandora via my Squeezebox - absolutely brilliant concept! Squeezenetwork gives you a 90 day trial of Pandora. I suspect that after 90 days of this, and assuming I have any money left after what I susptect will be an impending music buying orgey, I'll NEED to subscribe to Pandora.

    Stuart.

    Another thumbs up for Pandora.

Only small hitch was when Pandora played "Phil Collins - Another Day in Paradise" on the "Peter Gabriel" station it had created for me. I was not amused.

That would have been somewhat disturbing! At least you can give the track the 'thumbs down' and they will appologise and promise to not play it again.

Yes Stu, just found that "reject" option tonight.

Just had a few people around for drinks and they were all fascinated by Pandora. Everyone was fighting to put in their favourite artists.

Nearly had to show someone the door when they suggested Radio "Gloria Estefan" though (until I realised it was my wife).
