I am going to sell my car as i am getting a company car. It should quite comfortably realise 4500-5000K. The plan is to try and invest the money so for travelling purposes later on when i graduate. ANy suggestions on the options? Is an ISA a good idea? Since i have a steady income I am interested on making a good return, and am prepared to take a few reasonable risks.

Please help, at the moment i cant't stop thinking about what i want to do with the money, namedly buy a Mk2 escort RS2000 in reasonable nick, to tinker with and hopefully that will retain/increase uin value a little. its always been my dream to have another project, already restored a tractor.... iits the practicalities that dampen that one, obviously. Could get clasic insurnace and i wouldnt have to pay roadtax if its the right year, and may have a garage to put it in. but, not the mosts sensible thing to do is it! and the parents will frown.........

Im just about to start a company selling bottled air from the swiss alps, I need about 5K to get it going.......

My ISA's do f all except lose money at the moment, saying that I did go for medium - high risk and the Irish stock market. Horses for courses.

Sticking £3k in a cash isa will make money though, and I'd have thought that's probably the most sensible bet with the bulk of the cash.

    It would be now :D

I dont think Ive lost that much on my ISA's, but they are medium-high risk, so Im hoping the Irish stock market & Eastern European property prices rise

Have a look at how much garages sell for round your area. They used to be a few grand and Ive heard of a few people who have bought them up and rented them out. Ive of one person eventually ending up with an entire block and sold the lot off for building. Sadly you can pay upto 15K for a single garage round here.
