Does anyone else even care if he chooses to or not? Why are you so bothered?

I don't remember the exact details. The posts were made on a football forum. They followed a sectarian incident (Celtic v Rangers) where people were talking about the violence and bigotry involved. Someone had a young son who had either been killed or severely injured following a football related attack. The sick comments the poster made earnt him all the **** that might have followed IMO.

I agree there are perhaps better ways to deal with it than a public posting of his details.

    Because I am...

You confuse me - do you think it a good idea to hide your details or not?

I don't hide mine, but I think it's someones right to do so and not have to explain.

Fair points. I accept completely that any given individual has no right to access to any particular web site/forum. However I also believe that people have the right to privacy and freedom from harrasment, (until such time as they have broken the law that is and then they loose their right to privacy. But even then only from the authorities not the public !).

Just because things are possible to do, doesn't IMO make them moraly justifiable to do.

oh dear, I didnt mean to kick up a fuss people.

Thanks again for the original answer to my question. I got the switchproxy extension up and running with Firefox, and it does work, but it seems very slow and unreliable. Most of the time I try to visit a webpage I either get en error message i.e. "connection refused when attempting to contact the proxy server you have configured. Please check proxy settings", or the thing just freezes up. I followed instructions from the guy who created the extension, and used an anonymous proxy list. It worked 'ok' at first, slow but at least worked, but now it just takes ages for anything to happen.

Any tips for better reliability and speeding it up? I'd say the webpages only actually open 1 in 10 attempts

    thanks!
