If so I only take it as a compliment. I mean running a 386 motherboard insulted by a piece of news paper is fun.

It was a long time ago, when I was 14/15 my second system was a 386 but I had no case for it, so I ran the system with an old MFM hard drive on my metal shelf, I used newspaper and layed the motherboard on top of that. It last about two months before the paper ripped frying my motherboard. I also used a green screen monitor and a 5.25" floppy drive with it to make matters worse :)

That may explain why the it booted up but the BIOS seemed rather f**ked, it just displayed a few random charectors on the screen before it completly died. I remember burning all the 30-pin SIMMs from it on a bonfire.

There are no “geeks†anymore dude. Most families are “geekier†than me if we are getting down to it, I am a PC engineer by trade and spend all day “messing†with them, but at home I use a 1GHz pretty basic PC, and that's it.

So if anyone starts on me I simply throw back the fact that I actually use my PC for about 30mins a night, and it's old. Whereas they probably spend all evening on their 3.2GHz PC (with all the trimmings), which more than likely cost them the best part of £2k. Oh yeah, and check how many PC magazines they bought that year to, I bought, err, none to be exact.

    Geek, my arse :bs:
