I had one of them after my camera (which subsequently went on ebay).

I gave them the address to send payment to as 1600 Pennsylvania avenue NW, DC20500.

They kept asking me if payment had arrived.

I had a similar email when I was selling some amps - funny it's always "for a customer" and they know absolutely nothing about what's being sold...
I reported them to their email address provider, but not before sending them an email telling them to get a proper job. I'm sure they were quaking in their boots!

One thing that stood out a mile was the very english name "Susanna Collins", yet the text in the email is written by someone that has only a basic grasp of english language.

    Ho Hum :D

I remember reading about some guy who was selling a laptop and the same thing happened, so he decided to get his own back - he filled a box up with some bricks and the other guy had to pay some taxes (about 1/4 of the total bill) to collect the so called laptop...the tables were well and trully reversed...!!
there was even a website about this...

did I read about on this forum, or another one..??

can't remember now...can anyone remember it..?

Had another enquiry this morning, it may or may not be genuine but the wording doesnt ring true, I guess they are picking up on these from my ad on hififorsale.com, he asks for full description, condition and pictures etc, and all that is in the advert anyway.

    Copy of email below.

    Hello,

am interested in buying your 603 s3 Sorrento for the said price aforementioned(£390)what is the present condition of it and if still available do get back to me with the full description of it and the pictures for quick payment on time.

    Regards

Email address is a uk one though only a yahoo jobby.

I contacted a person on eBay about an Apple G5 and got an odd reply. It sounds like a scam especially as it was removed from eBays listing but what is with his reply? I don't see how that is going to help him rip me off!

"If you want to make a deal will make a safe deal through eBay , you will be contacted by eBay with all the details for our deal ( shipping , payment and insurrance ) and you will see that you are protected to make deals with me .
    Thank`s"

don't go near in my opinion.......8319peterk my alter ego on ebay..........anything suspicious I leave well alone ...........only ever had one probelm buyer who actually gave a false phone number....and when caught out said " well nobody else has called me " and then had the gall to say my advert was inaccurate, to which I took great delight in proverbally pinning him to a wall, with dissection of my add in minute detail to prove what a complete plonker he was. Not heard anything since!

I don't want to prejudge people from italy, but it seems like there are lots of enquiries asking to ship there, and I am sure some of them are probably fake.
its the wording as everyone knows here that give them away....I pay taxes, so you know this and that, please tell me condition and pictures so I can get my client to send you cheque, etc...
a few seem to be yahoo mails, too.
interesting that my man who wanted to buy said he would wait 30 days for cheque to clear, i was still uneasy, so I told him to post cash, insured, and not heard back yet.

This probably sounds daft but one of the things I remember from GCSE Geography is that there is a lot of Mafia in Southern Italy becuase that part of the country is very poor. So they might be running similier scames to the Nigeria ones.
