Ok, so the thread title was a blatent rip-off of both the mini adverts and REM's album...

Anyways, it's almost all change at Sibson towers in hifi terms. Rather than explain it all, here's some gratuitous pictures of the system that has gone from big and heavy to remarkably petite:

Big thanks to those who advised on the amplifier.

That's a lot of concrete you've got under those speakers

The granite slabs look good :)

The concrete keeps the floor under control. Two other chris can confirm that in the time BC (Before Concrete) the room interaction was obscene.

the concrete doesnt add to the room Isaac..

you could do with a hifi rack and some shelving for the CD's

    - but the room itself and the speakers look nice, which is the shame.

    you're not a student anymore ;)

Excellent. I've ordered a SB3 now. It won't replace anything, so unlike your system which is now mini and tidy, mine will add to the mess. Haven't thought seriously about a DAC yet.

Chris - the CDs are headed for the attic once FLACed. Might have to paint the concrete. Sonically it adds :p

Dev- I've not tried the analogue outs... I suspect that they're not up to so much (just on paper the DAC is about 8-10dB less good in SNR, DNR and distortion than the chip in the DAC-AM, and the output stage is rather unsophisticated... it's what would be expected at the price though).

Just listening some some internet radio on the SB... and they came up with a competition to win a squeezebox!

True, they just act as a solid platform for the speaker cabinets.

You should post that photo on the Slim Devices forum.

A few months back, a guy posted a vey good photo of his SB and Sean Adams offered to send him a free SB3 if they could use the photo for marketing. Your shot of the Slim Devices logo reflected in the granite is sublime.:)

    I sold it to him!

Buyer/seller feedback seems to have gone (or I can't find it) so I'll use this opportunity to thank Isaac for a smooth trouble-free purchase.

Glad to see the amp in slightly more salubrious surroundings than it was accustomed to!

    dev,
give it a chance you'll soon find you're playing the squeezebox an obscene amount and only wheeling out the cd player on odd occasions, then you'll start to look at the cdp as a box of money sitting there doing nothing......
