the author of that article loves the word supreme doesn't he? perhaps he'd like to cover the car in a creamy sauce..... fnarrr.
like most beemers i admire the tech but find it soulless and a bit 'pat rick bateman' if you know what i mean.

    No I don't please explain Julian, slowly.:D.

I just think it's a nice car, even if I can never afford one. I think certain BMW straight sixes have all the soul a car needs. No doubt, it was delayed due to the Audi RS4 being as good as it is, perhaps causing BMW to rethink a bit. Let's see what JC thinks of it. I'd also like to hear the V8.

pat bateman was the main character in the book american psycho - he was a supremely materialistic yuppie who went off on page long diatribes about musicians such as genesis, dire straits and huey lewis and the news. he also killed people with nail guns ;)
although not specifically stated i always imagined him driving a bmw when not cruising in a limo.

Did you like that book? I had mixed feelings about it, I certainly wouldn't recommend it to anyone!

Back on the beemers, it looks 'OK', but I think you're right Dev, they're for driving more than looking at, great engines and handling, brilliant build.

dev, i dunno mate - the mods here seem to be a pretty useless lot imo. i say sack the lot of them ;).

la toilette, yeah i did like it. if you look beyond the obvious gore it's a pretty accurate synopsis of the gordon gekko late 80's. a mate of mine used to take a copy on the tube with him to read then at selected parts would start to laugh maniacly or nod, look thoughtful and fold over the edge of the page or pretend to make notes in the margin. i think he actually managed to completely clear the carriage he was in once...

The new car that's rather taken my fancy (although I have even less chance of affording one than the M3) is the new bentley brooklands:

1050Nm @ 3250rpm. It doesn't so much accelerate, as alter the rotation of the planet...

I can't imagine a car under 20k (let alone £stupid) I'd like less than a modern Bentley, I'd rather drive transit van :).

Which series? I still love the E30, you can find superb 320's around for peanuts that have been really well looked after, and they look better than the new ones and have the added bonus of appreciating instead of depreciating! A well-maintained 20 year old straight six loveliness for the price of a 10 year old fiesta, I know which one I'd choose!

That's the point... the brooklands isn't a modern bentley - it's the ultimate form of the '91 continental, with probably the ultimate form of the 6.75 turbo V8. It isn't one of these rebadged phaetons that pass as bentleys now.

Very nice Isaac. For some reason I never want to own really expensive cars, regardless of how much I admire them. It just wouldn't feel right for me, too ostentatious. M5 is highest I'd like to aim.

    I DO drive a transit!! (connect) :D

Those bentley coupes are the bees nees for me though (IMO)

where wouild you evver take it though?? It'd be keyed/whatever in 5 mins in the current social climate.

Beleive me we've been down this avenue....thought about it any way.....not on a fcatory workers money!!

A couple of years ago a local trader was selling a beuatiful 320 e plate.....owned from new by a local gent.....20000 miles.... When the guy ran it up..... you could say I fell in love. Just can't be done!!:(

To answer your question I like that shape (classic) more so than the later one.....though i doubt I'd refuse one....!

320,323,325 I ain't fussy, so long as its got that straight 6.....

My brother ran a 520 for a bit (company car) ...over bodied /under engined......but I did get to drive it......:D

He then had a 525 estate.....he said hed never want another car....

Hes running audis now. don't know why
