I decided to buy British Sea Power's latest album 'Open Season' on the strength that I remember someone on here recommending 'The Decline of British Sea Power' a while ago. The album certainly doesn't have a "pick me, pick me" look to it when browsing through the CDs (neither does the band's name for that matter!) but upon first playing the disc, my opinion was changed. Their musical style has a very fresh, upbeat feel to it (for this album anyway). My first impressions were that it was a similar style to that of Snow Patrol, albeit more lively and cheerful to listen to. It's only been through the CD player once so far, but it certainly won't be relegated to back of the pack. Right from the opening track, I knew this was going to be good and I wasn't disappointed. My only real gripe is the last track - "True Adventures" - which is a bit off topic with some truly bizarre lyrics. I would say - ignore the odd name of the band and the dull packaging, this is definitely a worthwhile CD to add to your collection. Cheers, batfink
