    ...SPK...

    ...and it's f*****g scary.

I just wanted someone to reassure me that everything will be alright.

I remember SPK. Which incarnation? I think I still have Leichenshrei somewhere. The early records were pretty good, then they went a bit disco.

SPK's main man, whose name completely escapes me at the moment, now writes film soundtracks, very successfully too. Edit: Graeme Revell, just remembered.

You should check out some Throbbing Gristle, and, especially, Whitehouse, for really scary. Whitehouse and associated groups here:

Edit 2: If you've got SPK's Information Overload Unit album, can I have a copy? :)

I've actually just ordered 'Leichenschrei', but the one that scared me most was 'Information Overload Unit'.

I've been equally perturbed this afternoon by Glenn Branca ('Symphony No1'), which i've also just ordered.

Currently laughing my tits off to the Moldy Peaches, and i feel a lot safer.

Thanks for the link. I'm emptying my wallet for lots of new tunes at the moment.

Edit: (I ordered 'Leichenschrei' instead, but IOU is only £7.99 here, http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos...7810/sr=1-2/ref=sr_1_10_2/202-8528740-4768668 )

Didn't realise IOU was on CD, will get me a copy.

I used to have loads of SPK tapes (From Science To Ritual was quite good as I recall). There was a pretty reasonable compilation album of their early singles too, Auto Da Fe.

Somewhere or other I still have a copy of The Industrial Culture Handbook, put out by Re-search in the early 80s, which has interviews with SPK, Throbbing Gristle, William Burroughs, Z'ev, Mark Pauline (top man, makes robots out of dead animal parts and then blows them up), and various other industrial music oddballs. Will lend it to you if I can find it.

Edit: I wouldn't actually recommend buying any Whitehouse, unless scary is the main consideration. Throbbing Gristle, on the other hand, are great.
