After seeing this guy on jools I decided to make a purchase. For those of you not aware of this guy, he's an ex-soldier who has joined the every growing band of troubadours such as tom mcrea, ryan adams, tom baxter etc etc.

Ive had the cd in the car for the past 2 days and due to alot of driving have listened to it quite a few times. All in all its okay nothing more IMO. The first four songs are the strongest and will no doubt be used as the singles, after that it gets quite dull. This might change when I play it on the hi-fi but Im not getting my hopes up. I cant help but think this might become a ladeez cd, I can imagine them getting into it.

Id try to borrow before you buy or just not bother.

Sounds like the Damien Rice CD, first 4 pretty good, everything after that total cliché.
Shame, I thought he was really good on Later, was going to buy it. Maybe I should listen first instead of just picking it up

best artist on jules holland the other night was that soul singing/organ playing chap.

he's really famous but Ive just forgotten his name.

definately someone I'd like to explore further. I remember him saying he's just brought out a beatles covers album. Id rather hear him play soul music though.

    Anyone remember his name?

I've got to say I'm getting fed up with this kind of stuff...guess David Gray started it off and has been followed by Josh Rouse, Damien Rice, Jack Johnson et al. Always gets put on when you leave a woman in charge of the stereo!
    Its got no balls.

On the fleeting glimpse I caught of him performing on TOTP, the subtitle said his family had been soldiers since 99AD or somesuch. I didn't realise army records went back that far!

The song sounded like the usual indie whining.

Sadly that song thats now the no. 1 is about the best on the album.

As a previous poster has said, its all getting very dull, except Rufus Wainright.

I see from his website that his family have been soldiers since 995AD rather than 95AD, but that's still pushing it a bit. I sense some made-up nonsense going on here.

I quite like this album, the last track 'no bravery' is thought provoking and unlike zoomer I quite like the production on my system. I do worry that I will tire of it quite quickly though as its been pretty imediate to these ears.
One thing I dont like is the chart version of beautiful says 'flying high' but the album says 'f**king high' which doesnt fit the mood of the song IMO

Unbelievably, he'd never heard of Bob Dylan, nor Joni Mitchell until very recently.

    "You're beautifall" is appalling sh!te, it's true.
