As I have nothing to on I have been searching google and sending emails to web development companies and IT firms to ask if they take on sandwich year students etc. I have then said if they do I will send them my portfolio and CV.

Is this a good idea? I just don't want to write to 100's of companies only to not get any responce. It costs 30p per stamp plus envelopes.

Sent 3 emails and got 2 responses. It can't be bad.

I suppose it wouldn't hurt, perhaps you can point them to an online CV or something?
