    RIP Johnny :(

I really like the Ramones, they were somewhat before my time granted (my dad was lucky and old ;) enough to see them on 3 occasions, me being 18 missed that era by a good few years :(), but nonetheless, the appeal was as strong to me as it was for my dad.

Their music was very raw, some of their live recordings listening to in isolation were an absolute assault on the eardrums, but 'my brain is hanging upside down' is one of my all time favourite tracks. Cranking that one track to 11 o'clock on the volume dial never failed to make me want to jump around like a loony in proper punk fashion.

No BS, my pulse has just doubled it bpm after watching that video clip, talk about deja vu , i can remeber walking into Music Craft record store and buying that single shortly after it came out, it is tattered and torn but i still have it to this day.
My kids have just been taking the pee out of me bopping along to it, big grins all round and exclamations of who the hell is that dad. Obviously The Ramones have spent far too much time in the record boxes the last few years. Tha will change hopefully on my days off over the next few days if only to educate my children in the fine art of trashy, crashy, 2 minute singles.

    RIP Johnny, 1,2,3,4..........

Another one who was too young to see them while they were still together, but a fan nonetheless. I've only got the 2cd Anthology but am planning on getting some more of the albums at some point... They certainly were the masters of the short and loud single. If only there were some like them now.
