My attention was caught by the Sony Bravia advert last night. The advert itself is good and the song had something about it too.
So off to the sony site, and clicked on the link for the Bravia "Bouncy Balls" commercial. http://www.sony.co.uk/view/ShowArticle.action?article=1128495777479&site=odw_en_GB

Turns out the song is a cover sung by José González called Heartbeats. No idea who did the original

Instantly the likes of Nick Drake come to mind with the beautiful acoustic guitar, and those who like Nicolai Dunger will love this I suspect, with his voice having that same scandinavian sound.

http://www.jose-gonzalez.com/ is his site and a few tunes (Including heartbeats) can be heard on the myspace site http://www.myspace.com/josegonzalezmusic

I'm ordering the album with the intention of it being a christmas present.... I suspect it will be opened (and reclaimed by myself) before the 25th!

    Very highly recommended!

I heard him on the Zane Low show a couple of days ago and thought he was great...and he comes from the place I was born.

Had a look at buying the album on amazon though, they say it wouldn't get to me until January :(

    Will have to shop around!

Hi Nils. I hadn't noticed the 4-6weeks delivery time on amazon

On his site though, if you click on Disc on the right hand side, it gives the track listing for Veneer and a few links to places where you can order it.

Have you heard Nicolai Dunger? I think you'd like him too. He's got a few albums, but if you've not got any I'd recommend This Cloud is Learning which is worth owning for the song "Father" alone!

    Hi MO!

I've ordered it from Blahdvd.com, who say it'll come within a week (although I'm still waiting).

Cheers for the recommendation. I haven't heard of him, but I'll have a look into it ASAP.

I managed to pick this up from HMV for £8.99 today. It's quite short and quite samey but also, quite beautiful.

Only played it through once, but it's hit a spot straight off.

    Ah well,

blahdvd took ages doing nothing, so I cancelled the order. It's a shame because I also ordered the Stan Tracey "Under Milkwood" Jazz CD from them, which is excellent and came straight away. Looks like I'll have to try and pick Jose up after chrimbo sometime. I'm not going to face the town over the next couple of weeks as I'll be stampeded.

It's probably old hat now, but you should definitely have a listen to Jack Johnson's "On and On" CD. I'm not entirely convinced with him, as his new album is pretty samey, but on and on has some cracking tracks.

Right, I'm off for a festive pint! :D
