    Hi,

I've been thinking about changing to a mono setup run directly from my DAC and the amps i have been contemplating have come up for sale on the s/h market. To fund these the 550 will need to be sold unfortunately so just testing the water to see if anyone would be interested.

It's an absolute beast of an amp (dual monobloc) split between amp and separate psu. It's rated at around 550w@8ohm and doubles into 4/2 so is capable of driving pretty much any speaker made with complete ease. Connections on the back are 2 pairs of speaker terminals per monobloc (4'+ve' & 4'-ve'), CD, AUX 1/PDI, AUX 2, AUX 3, TAPE (constant volume for recording) & MM/MC phono input. There's a 3.5mm jack on the front for a 'Personal Device Input' which also ties in with AUX 1. Also on the back are pre-out RCA's and a ground loop terminal. Manual can be found here... http://docs.google.com/viewer?a=v&q...rvG2hW&sig=AHIEtbSuHINr3RagGZUAoa-02EYlSyAaUw

I think it's around 2+years old and its first owner was a well know MF fanatic on here so has been very well looked after indeed. When i bought it the amp was shipped to MF for a full service/check where the valves were replaced as a matter of course and new boxes were supplied for both units. After having had it for 3-4 months i took the plunge and sent it off to John Sampson to work his magic after hearing/reading glowing reports on his work and a little persuasion from John himself! I was sceptical at first as the amp was already pretty good but as it turned out the money was well spent and the amp was totally transformed to what it should have been in the first place.

Part of the modifications included upgrading all of the transformers, valves, internal wiring, caps, resistors, output etc. Further to this it's now fitted with WBT NextGen cu speaker terminals and ag rca's on the cd input. All in all a total of £1300 was spent on it with a bill to prove. If anyone wants more details on what has been done feel free to contact me but i'll need to email John for the full details.

It's in excellent condition as expected and has been kept in a smoke/child/pet free home. It's always been warmed up before use and cooled down before switch off. Heat isn't an issue and it runs very cool compared to the likes of Krell etc so you should get away with a minimal amount of room for breathing. Just be aware that both units are now considerably heavier than original due to the massive transformers now fitted. Both units come with pretty much brand new double cartons/packaging. I also have the original manual and remote. All power cables/umbilicals included. All in all your getting near enough a new amp, fully modified and under guarantee but i'll need to double check with John on that one.

I can easily accommodate anyone for a demo at my home should they require it. I'm away till Monday but i'll post pictures when i get back. I've also got pics of before and after the modifications were carried out.

Price wise i'm looking for around the £3k mark which will include shipping within the UK including insurance. Collection is most welcome as they weigh a bloody tonne!

These are the only pics i have in my online account but i'll post more when i get back onshore.
