    ebay item number ....290137780801

Assume that the 204 filaments of 6n silver [if such a thing exists] equals and lets be generous 0.5mm dia silver ...

lets do a little math ......

you need 4m of conductor to make one 1m ic 4m of low purity silver cost about £400/kg

4m of 0.5mm weigh approx .01kg ie the cost would be approx £25 [if your using low p Ag....]

as we all know 5n is about the best commercially available and cost about the same as gold or around 8 times silver ...therefore

just the conductor material costs of this cable should be £ 200 approx

to make this viable to sell at £34 total the fabrication cost must be about £10 - £15 or less !

As you can see something does not add up imo

I've ask the maker if his quoted purity is a typo !

I wonder what sort of answer I'll get !

excluding the silver there's no more than $5-6 in that IC at cost to the factory.

    plugs: let's be generous $2 for 4.
rest of the rubber $1 at most.
labour cost, 20 minutes for skilled worker maybe $2

no doubt they are full of shit about the 6n silver, you just can't get it, not even if you work at Nasa, surface sulphonation is higher than that.

probably 3n maybe 4n at a real push, and that would be in ingot, not processed, i'm assuming they are using metal not cermamic or diamond dies.

so they can likely make a profit on that not inc ebay and shipping at anywhere around the $30 mark.

which of course begs the question, WTF are people doing paying RA £1500 for a silver powerecord.

It is bog company and good credit. So I trust them.
And this product actually win good credits.

so there you have it !

I've replied in similar vein to my original post....

I've read his feedback and it seems OK, many of his other listings seem interesting - so I ordered a set (enquired about a 0.5m set, and about his cables in general - got a fast, polite, if "asian english" reply and an offer to set up an "only for me" listing on ebay as it is safer for both parties etc..... so I've ordered a set - I'll let you know..........

£34 sounds very reasonable to me, especially for silver.

I mean some cheapies from maplins will be about £15

OK ... here we go .....initial impressions:
Cables arrived this morning - I bought 2 sets - customs charge £8 VAT but parcelfarce took £12.50 admin fee for relieving me of the VAT!!
First look - cables appear just as on the listing: good heavy plugs, careful workmanship, marked for directionality. Outer sheath is very like the kimber select range, I guess intentionally.
So - on to listening played some random stuff to get the system warmed up for an hour then with kcag interconnect in place had a listen to some "reference tracks" ;-)
Tom Waits, Stones, Scissor Sisters, Christy Moore, Paul Weller and a little Mozart.
Swapped cables and had a listen...

.... I'm quite astounded, barely detectable difference from the Kimber cable - as I listened for an hour or so I could detect maybe a little less top end but a deeper bass. 2 hours later and I'm still listening. tbh I wasn't expecting much but I'm very impressed. For the price they are - imo - a steal. I'll see what further listening brings but I may well give his speaker cable a go when more funds are available!

    great result ....

a friend who has tried these said they sounded ok.....The issue though was the claimed purity not the performance. I've tried and built many cables the question of what exactly affects the sound of cables has long since been obfuscated by certain mass market cable makers....all trying to out do the next with grandiose claims of astonishing purity or performance.

I have to say that it probably says more about kimber than the cable you bought !

I'm pleased you have not been ripped off ...and as the seller said he was only quoting the makers spec.

Ah old Harry tax man and his mates ...nice little earner for him !

Yes - tbh I was not expecting a lot (despite the guys feedback but my decision to purchase was swayed a little by the other stuff he sells- seems to be quite "hi fi" as opposed to throwing stuff together. When I opened the box I had expectations of finding some "golden raincoat" style interconnects with really cheap plugs and thick sleeving but was pleasantly surprised.

    - 6N indeed! But the performance is good for the money - I'll maybe comment later once the "newness / difference" factor has faded. It's always tricky to avoid that psychoacoustic effect!
Yeah - I've always liked the low /medium priced kimber cable, despite the price premium although I reserve judgement about the more esoteric stuff. Ray Kimber has taken his task seriously (yes I know - primary task to make lots of money ...) by manufacturing his own wire and having sophisticated measuring equipment etc. I always liked kcag - bought 2nd hand I hasten to add!

Me too - btw I don't think it matches auag for clarity and separation. ;-)
What can I say - VAT I can accept but having a large processing fee, I'll need to write an "angry of mayfair" letter to PF!
