    1) using a mobile phone with an embedded camera you can send photos taken with the phone/camera

    2) Using a smartphone with embedded camera you can email or send via mobile netwrok photos taken with the smartphone/camera

    3) With a camera on its own, the best thing is to remove the memory card on which the photos are stored and then send them from a computer - the reason for this is that - connecting the camera to any device either via cable or bluetooth/wifif etc will drain the camera's batteries very quickly.

The downsides of 1) and 2) above is that picture quality doesn't tend to be as good as with a dedicated camera even though they now include a flash and are at least 2 mega pxiels in terms of resolution. In bright sunlight you should be able to get pretty good pictures with a smartphone or mobile phone camera but otherwise picure quality is an issue

Correct you ned to check your tariff carefully to find out what it costs to send a MMS ( Multimedia message) which is how the pictures are sent.

If you had a wifi enabled smartphone/PDA then you can use your exisiting email providetr to send email. However, you would still need to connect the smartphone or PDA to a wifi "hotspot" - not all of these are free. Some coffee shops ( Starbucks?) might provide them. In NY you can get plenty of free wireless hotsopts to connect to the internet. Not sure how many free ones there are in London or whatever town you live in. Of course if you had internet access at home and a wireless router then you could send them from your Smartphone/PDA when you are at home. This would be at no additional cost ( other than what you pay for internet access at home)

To summarise, with a smartphone/pDa with embedded camer, youhave at least three ways to send:

    1) As a MMS using GSM network- but cost per message could be high

    2) Via email using GPRS - cost will depend on size of picture and cost per megabyte incldued in your phone tariff

    3) Via email using wifi - if from home then no additional cost otherwise cost of connecting to wireless hotspot while out and about

    4) Could use bluetooth to send picture to your PC and email from there - no additonal cost other than internet access costs

I don't know about 3G as I have never used them but you could potentially send using 3G as well

No issue - you would only be using wireless to send the picture from your smartphone/PDA to the router. Yes it is slower that 1GB ethernet but not really an issue in practical terms. I surf all the time around the house using my laptop connected wirelessly and it is no issue.

If you have broadband at home, thing to do is to get a wireless router e.g. like this one:http://www.broadbandbuyer.co.uk/Shop/MFR/ShopDetail.asp?ProductID=3749 or similar from say 3comm or Belkin or ( I have no connection to company I just like their products). i am assuming you have ADSL and not cable broadband

This will give you wireless internet access around the house.

Then you get a smartphone/PDa with wifi and a camera. Click and email and off it goes without any wires.
