Years ago now I inherited a pair of KEF speakers, which I've recently started using for music listening. The only information I have on them is that they are KEF "kit" speakers and they're floor-standing to boot. They are (approx) 75 cm tall and 45 cm wide, weighty and produce a wonderful audio sound - with one major major downside. The bass is truly absymal, which is disgraceful for such speakers. I suspect the reason is due to my father, who constructed their outer casings, reduced their depths to a paltry 22 cm - this so they could fit into the alcoves of our dining room. Now, I have no idea what the name of these speakers are, beyond being KEFs. Neither can I examine the speaker layout within them, not without first physically destroying the speaker casings' front panels which are wooden lattice fixtures. All I can say is that is that the speaker array, going on their ghostly outlines just about visible through the front panels, certainly looks impressive. Other than that, all I can say is that my father purchased these speakers in kit form back in the 1980s. So they're of that period. Now I should like to have these speakers restored to their correct dimensions, this with the hope of obtaining their intended bass sound. I should therefore appreciate any advice on this issue, if possible.
