Responsible for ALL the fillings I have now :nuno:, and very useful for helping wobbly milk teeth to come free, I seem to recall (very chewy).....

    :cowboy:

They still make them? I'm sure I haven't seen them since I was a kid in the 70's....

Yes, trying to eat them in cold weather was an intense jaw workout.
They were on sale again earlier this year, Cadbury's (I think it was them) had an old choccy bar limited edition thing. I bought all the ones they had on the shelf in a local shop, took them to the pub, got drunk and handed them all out. Didnt eat one! DOH!!

tried that but the foil sent a horrible 'electric' sensation through my teeth.
Anyway didn't they used to have 5 bars?

When Nestlé bought Rowntree Mackintosh (it was never able to crack the British market with its own brands, so it bought its way in), KitKat was the biggest-selling bar in the UK and had been for years. Apparently the package design has remained essentially unchanged since it first appeared in the 1930s. The Nestlé takeover has meant that the RM brands are now available here (prior to that, Mars products (made in Slough) were the only available British confectionery products).

Nestlé's most recent endeavour is to try to register "Have a break" as a trade mark. "Have a break, have a KitKat" was no problem because it passed the old standard test "would a third party without improper motives reasonably wish to use this?" The same could not be said of "have a break", a normal English expression. However, Nestlé has finally succeeded, but only in respect of goods in the course of trade - so, no other chocolate manufacturer can use "have a break" in a trade marks sense, but it remains otherwise part of the language, freely available to all.

    Definately !

I remember rubbing the foil to get the Rowntrees in scroll letting to appear, it is amazing how these simple things pleased us when we were kids !

I'd forgotten about doing that!:) Simple pleasures indeed.

I don't eat choccy bics nowadays, but have noticed how all the old favourites, Penguins etc. seem to be getting smaller. I thought it was my imagination at first, but apparently it's true. Most are getting steadily smaller.

It's barely biccy or choc. Whats needed are some plain chocolate dipped walnuts - believe me.

    Maybe you're just getting bigger?

I just raided the kids choccy store - nicked 2 * 2 finger white kit kats, threw them on the sofa and then read this thread :)

Kit Kat Chunky is just too sweet.
