I am going to Japan shortly, and wondered if any had any idea of the comparative prices of a Koetsu black in Japan compared to the UK -

    Hi Shamdasani

I'm not sure about the current Koetsu Black but the early ones were not made by Koetsu. For the money you'd be better off buying a used Red Signature circa 1990 and getting it re-tipped at Expert Stylus. I have in my collection of cartridges a 1987 Rosewood/Red Sig as well as a 2004 Rosewood/Red Sig and the early one has more of that big Koetsu 'sound'.

A current Black and used Red Sig must be about the same price by now.

Yes Arlequen is right. The Koetsu cartridges are pretty dated now. The Red K is like the rest are lovely BUT no match for a modern MC. My A90 is sounding sooooooo good I can't imagine things sounding better than this!
