I am in the market for a new computer. I only want a laptop although I am well aware that they are slower and less powerful than a desktop.

I need to be able to use the web for stuff like google Earth, download music and I'm sure my little man would like to play games (3d support is needed for this) I don't need to run multiple programmes at the same time or do any heavy graphic work - It's just going to be the family computer.

I had planned to spend as little as poss and have found this

    http://www.laptopshop.co.uk/acer-aspire_5101wlmi_lsb-laptop-3-n2.htm

which seems to hit all the buttons. I would by a desktop but you can't use them on the sofa/garden/bed etc...

I have a couple of Questions. AMD processors yes or no? and for my useage is it worth getting a centrino duo type doodah or is that just overkill?

Have you tried dell ? www.dell.co.uk

They push out computers and laptops so cheap, also I find the equipment very good, and their service is spot on.

    I would agree re. Dell.

They are hard to beat on price and their after sales service appears very good (important consideration)
