A soft, well washed lint-free cloth, and breath or IPA. But typically I don't clean my lenses much at all...

I use a Lens Pen, it has a brush at one end and a small velvet pad the other. The velvet pad also has a cleaning liquid. Works a treat, got 1 smal and 1 large from Jessops for £7.99.

mr c - do a google search on 'magic cloth' - a generic term for microfibre cloths - you'll see a couple from suppliers of photographic equipment. familiarise yourself with the aformentioned cloth then pop into the hardware section of your local tesco store and pick the same thing up but likley much cheaper and much bigger.......i have a magic clth in the camera bag at all times, one day i might even use it...... :D

it its only little cloth you want opticians typically have microfibre cloths on sale

Just in case it wasn't clear.... There's no need to be completely obsessive about lens cleaning. Every time you clean it is when you put it at the greatest risk of scratching it. A bit of dust on the front element is going to have very little if any effect on your image
