Wow, got to say I'm amazed at how may Sex Pistols items there are in the top 50 at Popsike...

I might buy the collection and list them individually on eBay. If I could photograph, grade, list, pack and post one album every 5 minutes and I worked 8 hours a day, 260 days a year, I could get through the lot in 132 years and 3 months...

you could employ one of those companies that sort out your auctions for you - I forget the name, but basically if you've a house clearance etc- they collect the items, setup the ebay auctions and post the items...tho, they do take a 25% cut or something...but hey - you would still be quids in and let them do all the work...they can start off by collecting the records in the first place..! :D

As this has been around for about a year, I am sure that you could make an 'offer'.

If 20 people were to each put up £50k, total of £1m then share the proceeds as you break-up and sell chunks.

Would make a lot, but seems a shame breaking the collection. Would be nicer preserved, but who has the spare cash/room/inclination?

TBH I think it should be donated to a good home like yours SCIDB, you'd get a lot more enjoyment out of it, it seems to me that this collection long since stopped being about the music and has become more of a simple hoarding obsession, I suspect he very rarely listens to any of it....

One quote in there seems to pretty much confirm it "Cleverly arranged and displayed, and surrounded by additional cultural memorabilia, the collection could even become a tourist attraction"

All that music and history sat on a shelf for people to just look at :(

Just had a read of some of the comments after the article. There's mention the collection was sold to someone in Ireland.

Some of the other comments just annoyed me and I stopped reading it though.
