I know this is like asking how long is a bit of string:)

However I would hate to damage my lovely bits of black plastic:eek:

I'm a bit wary of the "a stylus should last xx hours" when I don't accurately track how long I play LPs for. Is the best solution to check with some sort of magnifying glass or is it too late once you can see wear?

    Any suggestions much appreciated.

I think it's pretty safe to assume that if you can't hear a problem, you needn't worry about there being a problem.

The average life of a stylus should between 1,000 and 1,500 hours playing time but it can go up and down by 50/100 % depending on atmospheric conditions, cleaning fluids etc.

It is also fair to say that most sonic degradation is extreemly gradual and thus very difficult to hear. You often find that the suspension system starts to stiffen which results in a little less detail and pace.
