    Hello,

Can someone tell me the attraction of buying a second hand Linn Karik on ebay for at times £500+.

If the laser goes, thats it knackered, unfixable. no parts available, not anywhere.

Or am I missing something here?

Nope you are not missing anything.

Buying any cd player that can no longer be supported due to a lack of parts is risky.

Linn issued a statement a couple of years ago stating that they no longer had parts to service or fix Mimiks or Kariks.

However, if the deck has been well looked after and not used that much a laser should last a good few years - my first cd player , a Kenwood is still going strong 17 years after it was bought.

Some prices on ebay for 2nd hand equipment, especially Linn and naim, is a bit on the daft side.
