For all of my 30 plus years of listening to my system, I discovered a new way. Over the years I would close my eyes with my head straight ahead plus or minus to the sweet spot
Recently A new recording had an old stero effect of right, left, and center. It is annoying at best. So I decided to follow the lead instrument and looked directly at it. To my surprise I was getting a more realistic presentation. The left, right presentation was subdued and the affect was a akin to a live performance when you focus on say the soloist or lead instrument.
Give it a try even with well engineered recordings. IMO the presentation is improved.
