My two year old daughter decided to push in a tweeter on one of my brand new KEF IQ5's this morning!! It is badly dented but might be repairable. That being said, I might replace it regardless.

Does anyone know if I will be able to buy a new tweeter or will I have to but a whole new unit? Also, are they tricky to take apart and replace?

I don't want to take it back to the dealer, it took him long enough to supply them, I cant imagine how long it would take him to repair one.

    Thx

First off try a piece of blutak to see if you can gently 'pull' the dome back in to shape.

Will give that a go but it is not in good shape at all and I'm not sure I will be able to get it back to its original condition.

    Thx

Also the vacuum method with a hoover sans attacment....

Insurance may be the better route if they are fairly new, they should be sympathetic !

    Thanks again for your reply.

Took the whole drive unit out last night and pushed out the tweeter from the back, but no use, it is wrecked.:(

However, rang KEF this morning, explained what happened and they are sending out an FOC replacement, just have to solder back onto the HF connections, so top marks for KEF customer service!!:) :)

Suffice to say that the room stays locked from now on!!
