I was just listening to a 1970s recording of Deep Purple live earlier this evening, completely brilliant, if for no other reason than Mike Harding sounding like a complete pratt whilst introducing the band.
Still, once they kicked in, was tremendous.

Any good recommendations of 70s live rock on CD?

V good, but not as good as the new one (how the west was won). Stunning version of "Since I've Been Loving You".

The fisrt Old Grey Whistle Test DVD is pretty good. The second one is a bit shit, but has a fantastic version of Gary Moore and Thin Lizzie doing "Don't Believe Me" and some guy, who's name I really can't remember, playing a bass like he's on lead (with the single cheesiest keyboard player ever).

If you can find it, the first Golden Earring has an 11 minute version of Radar Love: Absolutely stonking. Rest of the album is really good to. It has a superb live feel to it.

:D Too true. That's probably why I like it, you can really tell Jimmi doesn't even know where he is when playing this, let alone what he's supposed to be doing. Got bless the drugs.

Not a huge fan of live albums but always liked Queen "Live Killers" as a live album.

Motorhead "No Sleep Til Hammersmith"'s worth a spin (but does sound a bit thin at times).

Almost 70s (but only just misses - 81 I think) and not quite Rawk rock (altho it most certainly rocks :) )- "Dig the New Breed" by the Jam is a superb live album.

    Kiss 'Alive!'
    Kiss 'Alive II'
    Kiss 'Alive III'
    Kiss 'Symphony: Alive IV'

Although how 'live' any of them actually are is another question entirely...

The new live CD/DVD features the original LoA line-up... which means Keith Caputo was indeed on vocals.

The audio CD also includes a previously unavailable KC solo studio track 'Were what I say'.
