juboy and gambit - can I ask what you think of the Keith C solo stuff?

I quite liked LoA but didn't rate this at all, and, similarly, didn't think much of LoA without him - is this a case of the whole being greater than the sum of it's parts?

In line with the thread: Primus - 'Suck On This'. Primus aren't everyone's cup of tea but if you like them I'd personally rate this as their best.

His full-length solo album, 'Died Laughing', is quite simply one of the best albums I've ever heard.

His other stuff is patchier but the gems outweigh the less interesting stuff.

Seen him live three times, once with LoA and twice solo, and he's about the best male singer/songwriter/musician around in my opinion.

I too really like Died Laughing, there are a few I skip but then again a few I play twice when listening. His work with Freax is my favorite stuff, esp. Human Comedy, beautiful song.

N.B. I've seen him once live, went with a most intersting chap ;) :D

Graham (C), as you didn't get on with 'On -Stage' which was a cobble up of 3 or 4 live shows including a splice together of 'Mistread' half of which was from a Jap show  then I would say try 'Live in Germany 76 Tour', 3 Kraut-rock :D shows, Dusseldorf/Munich & Mannhien, streets ahead of the 'On-stage'
Cat No, DP VSOP CD 155
A few more to add to the list

Rush 'All the world's a stage'
Blue Oyster Cult 'Some enchanted Evening'
    Scorpions 'Tokyo tapes'
Purple 'Live at the California Jam'
Purple 'Live in London' recored & the Kilborne Gaumont may 74 (great album if you can get it)
    Newer stuff
    Dio 'Inferno live'

    Cheers for the suggestions Tony,

I shouldnt have forgotten the BOC as some of it was from Newcastle City Hall I recall [as was bits of Wishbone Ash - live Dates], though I wasn't at the gigs. You are right about California Jam - marvellous stuff.

Then there was 'Pat Travers - Go for what you know'

I'm pleased that the young'uns appreciate that the 70s was just getting into it's groove by 2003...

    cheers all,

    Graham C

I remember hearing a live Gillan album (at the Budokan i think) from really soon after he left purple (so when it was Ian Gillan Band i suppose) which was pretty good.

Mingus in spandex is a thought too horrible to contemplate. He was a big lad, our Charlie.

I remember (just :D ) seeing the Gillan band at The Rainbow on the Glory Road tour never really listened to much after that I must admit but they were superb. Clear Air Turbulence is a much underated album.

And don't get me started on NWOBHM!

    I'll get me zimmer.
