I'm off on my annual sojourn next week to Australia. The grass needs cut- The flight is long and boring. Which music should I fill the card on my PDA with? Any suggestions?

getting the right cans for the plane is the most important thing to enjoy your music I reckon.

Recently took my Bose Triport OE http://www.mzonline.co.uk/bose-triport-on-ear-headphones-oe-137-p.asp on a flight, and the way they enclose the ear cut out the bad engine noise.. without that, and normal earphones I find it hard to hear the music.

In-ear Emtyotic things are supposed to be good too, but can't use them personally..

music wise, well whatever you enjoy at home! :)

Nothing with too many quite passages or space between the notes, I'd suggest or the cabin noise can ruin the experience. Something noisy like AC/DC! :JPS:

AC/DC could be just the thing on way to Oz. They always leave me with a smile - great entertainment more than great music.:MILD:

Ditto. I borrowed a pair of Sennheiser noise cancelling phones for my last US trip and they really did the trick. Good enough to allow me to hear acoustic bass over cattle class plane noise. I compared the noise cancellation alone (no music) to foam ear plugs and I reckon it was about the same - which means something like 40db of rumble cancellation. Much cheaper than Bose too.

Music? Something low key but not over familiar usually works for me. The Complete In a Silent Way sessions got me back from Boston

Definitely get etymotics, I used them on a flight and could hardly hear the engine noise once they were in, reduced it to a faint hum.
On pulling them out, the 'plane was loud!

I like the Thievery Corporation, then I can step off the plane feeling loose and jazzy fresh at the other end...

Must be years since I heard John Denver and how many strings does one need on a guitar? - Enjoyed the flight but alas John D will not be one the play list on the return journey - many thanks to all for the replies to this thread
