Are there any problems associated with long interconnect runs?

I have a stealth instal with the amp hidden away under a couch with all cables routed under the floorboads. Next to it sits my dac fed from either cdp via optical or labtop server via USB. Basically nothing save the speakers are really visible.

I'm wanting to add a turntable which due to the nature of tt's will have to be on show and easily accessible. I don't really want to move the amp and dac which would mean the turntable would need about 3-4m of interconnect will this cause problems? I know I'll need a shielded interconnect to avoid rfi. Where should the longest runs be, between the tt and phono stage or between the phono and amp? Or do I really need to move the amp?

I've not bought the turntable yet but have bought a 640P

I used to run 5m I/Cs to connect power amp near speakers without any issues. The cables were well made and well shielded but nothing else special about them as far as I know.

Thanks Dev, I'm guessing it would be better to have the shortest run between the turntable and the phono amp due to the low signal strength of a TT?

    Yes, that's what I'd do.

Definitely keep the the TT to phono stage short.
The 640 will drive long cable just fine so long as nothing with very high capacitance is used.
Just about any regular coax would be perfect.

TBH, I reckon these would be good, PCOCC and all ready to go"

I keep meaning to try putting my mono blocks nearer to the speakers.

3 or 4m is but a short stroll, you often see guitarists with 10m leads from there high impedance, low level source into there amp without any problems, and i regularly chuck 2 or 3mv down an 80 meter cable, along with 20 or more such signals and don't notice any loss,ok in this instance the cable is balanced, but that only keeps the interference down

I ordered some of these and they are well made and a good buy. I asked the seller if this was a stereo pair or individual cable and was misinformed it was a single cable when its actually a stereo pair so I now have 2 sets :( He'll accept a refund but at £8 its not worth the hassle.

On a different not I bought what was shown as an album from amazon marketplace and received a 10" promo remix single this morning grrrrrrr

Would you accept £8 inc postage for your spare set?

Thanks for the offer Mark, however I'm going to hang onto them as it gives me the option to move my dac somewhere more accessible. However I can recommend them from that seller for £8.49
