    HI CHris
Thorens and Rega worth a try .Plenty off parts. Origin Live have a good range off tweaks
most are very good i have tried a few over the years found them OK. Noel W.

I'm a happy owner of a Roksan Xerxes. Best turntable i've ever had.

Thorens are infinitley tweakable.....stacks of stuff on the net.

    (I also have one ;))

Gerards also get a good write up.

Technics SP10 Mk II or Voyd Valdi. Both good in their own way, they'll sound quite different.

500 quid all in (TT, arm, cart and phono stage)? How much twaeking are you happy to do (suspended chassis TTs can be a pain to set up well)?

Best value in that price range would be a Project.

    Hi Chris

Just to ask about your phono stage - what do you have?

Any of these decks would sound truly terrible through the in-built phono stage in most amplifiers
