The Devil > Well, I haven't grasped the meaning of your sentence as regards my french accent I mean ;)

Actually, I don't own any CDP, neither the CEC nor the Cayin.

I was told they sounded better, i.e not only louder, on balanced outputs since they were first designed for that purpose, using the appropriate circuitry.

Anyway, everything is XLR at my home, I really need a balanced CDP.

Any opinions about the CDT17A ?

Thanks again to you all !

There is a CD player that has balanced circuits right through and is well within budget.

I'll PM you the name, lest some think I'm on the payroll.... ;)

    Yoms,
the lector has balanced outputs and two 12At7 tubes. The CEC is known to be warm but havn't heard one first hand. just make sure you get a 30 day money back return. Then you can try a couple. Its all about synergy. Our opinions are just that. Helpfull in narrowing the chase but ultimately you need to listen in your system.
My goal was the same as yours I listened to most available. for me the Lector was the one. The valves did it for me. have fun

The ear acute cd player fits your bill perfectly although over budget at 2700 gbp. I had the same criteria as you regarding sound and balanced topology and i have good with the ear player

If you can stretch the budget a little this is just the ticket:

Doubt you'll find a more analogue sounding player at any price. It has had the 'i' upgrade which replaces the original DAC section with the one from the much latter Wadia 860. I had the exact same player and it was awesome (this could even be my old unit but I can't remember the serial number!!).

If it is my old unit then it has also had lots of other upgrades done to the balanced outputs by Tony at Coherent Systems.

You should consider going 2nd user as you can find some very nice examples from people that are upgrading.

I'd recommend the Unison Unico CD player which I quite liked but in the end went for the Shanling CD-T100 which I still think is a cracking CDP 4 years later. :)

It's not important, just interesting. You switched between rather stilted and odd English grammar in most of your earlier posts as if you were "foreign", to complete fluency in the post I quoted, and now you are foreign-ish again.

"Au revoir", as they say in France.

    Bonjour,

You're very likely to be true. I was taught to write english this way. Very classical at times (OK, let's say old fashion :D). As I'm not an english man myself, I don't know when my writings are odd or not.

    Hum, see ya ! (???)

I know a good dealer for CEC - and they only deal with CEC and some speaker brand.

Check out Consonance. The Droplet is gorgeous and its new smaller version just may be too good for its own sake. Quality company great sonics.
