Looking to buy a turntable

    To the original poster: a well set up SL-1200 with a sympathetic
    cartridge and phonostage can be stellar. But as yours have seen
    DJ work it is wise either to have their arms checked for
    wear or just buy another (new) one for hifi work.

    that's not quite true... i know of someone djing with two simon yorke s9s....

    crazy but true. after all they do have a carbon mat that will slip...

    and why would you not be able to dj with any number of other decks? frankly anything that has a mat and doesn't have to use a clamp would be fine. i'm not sure i would want to use an expensive cartridge, but really i think people get a little precious sometime.

    Hi

    I've recently sold my Technics SL1200 and bought a Rega Planar 3, yes a big difference in overall sound, much more focused and detailed everywhere, worth doing ok! I haven't looked back...
