I have recently bought this new sound card which sounds brilliant.

However it doesn't work with Windows Media Centre the sound is very very jumpy. Any suggestions? I am using the latest May 2007 M Audio drivers.

I am in the process of converting my entire music collection to FLAC but I need MCE for my TV.

That simply is not an option :(. I think the problem may be a lack of MCE compatible drivers released by Avia.

My preferred suggesiton would be "don't use WMC"!
Sadly no M-Audio drivers are supported under WinXP as yet.

I think I read somewhere that the Maudio 2496 doesn't work with windows media centre, but it should be ok with XP.

What a damn pitty :( M Audio seem to be quite slow on releasing drivers.

I can't find any other alternative that has MSN messenger and a TV built in.

I've spent too much on PC as it is :(. Just bought a 22" wide screen, TV card, this sound card etc :(.

A possibly solution is Media Portal but it keeps crashing it on when I try tune my TV card in.

This Media HIFI idea is turning out to be not such a good idea.

I just bought a 22" monitor too, what one did you get?

If you only want stereo and you don't need ASIO support have a look for a Videologic SonicFury. It was made by Turtle Beech, a well respected soundcard maker back in the day! It has very good stereo sound quality and is probably supported natively by XP.

It hurts to say it, but mac really is better for this kind of thing. Software and hardware is just that bit better integrated.
FWIW I ran an Audiophile 2496 on my windows machines for several years (Win 98, Win ME!!!, Win XP Pro) and it was the one piece of hardware that never, ever, gave me any problems. It always just worked. Perfect.
I have an Audiophile Firewire atm, and while the hardware is good, the software sucks big time on win or mac. Soon to be replaced with a TASCAM unit.

    Thanks :).

For now I am just running my TV in a window when I need to use a messenger and using Trillian as it supports much larger font sizes.

I am disappointed that Avid have not developed Vista or MCE drivers for it :(.

Tension I bought a Cibox 22" for £158 inc VAT. It VGA only which is why its so cheap but the picture is good enough for my needs.

Its at least as good as my old Benq 17" it replaced which in 2004 was one of the high end panels.

Thats the same screen I bought! It goes up to 1680 x 1050 which is quite high enough res for me.

They are good screens for the money, I can;t find a single dead pixel on mine and when you think how much flat panel TVs still cost it is a bargain.

Cibox is actually a French company owned by BTC.
